Here’s a quick fix to get the computer to boot again:

Boot from your Windows XP CD and start the recovery console

  • Type command: CHDIR $NtUninstallKB977165$\spuninst
  • Type command: BATCH spuninst.txt
  • Type command: systemroot
  • Type command: exit (reboot)
